About  Balkan Union of Metallurgists (bum)

The Bulgarian Association of Metallurgists, at 1995 give the initiative to make a better communication between the metallurgists, its association, scientists and metallurgical firms from Balkan country and to organize the Balkan conference on metallurgists in Varna 1996.

For the organization of the Balkan Conference on Metallurgy, was build international organizing committee from metallurgist association Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia, Romania, Turkey and Yugoslavia in Nov. 1995. To parallel time with the conferences organization activity, the international organizing committee made the activity for establishment a Balkan Association of Metallurgists.

During the Balkan Conference on Metallurgy in Varna 1996, was decided a draft for Statute for the Balkan Union of Metallurgists. In December 1996 in Plovdiv was adopted the Statute of the Balkan Union of Metallurgists (BUM) and other document for the registration the Union with permanent seat of Permanent secretariat in Sofia, Bulgaria.

 President of the BUM in two legislative period is:

 Professor Dr. Eng. Avram Avramov, Sofia Bulgaria

 

Some from the scope of BUM are:

q       to organize Conferences, Symposiums, Seminars, Business meetings in the field of ferrous and non ferrous metallurgy;

q       to help in scientific- technical exchange of experience and information and contacts between scientists, bilateral and multilateral business contacts between firms and enterprises in the field of metallurgy in the Balkan region.

q       to advertise scientific, project, technological and business achievements of Universities, institutes, enterprises and firms.
