Scope of the Conference

The metallurgy of the Balkan countries has stepped into the new millennium at a level of development far behind that of the developed countries. During the last ten years metallurgical companies in the Balkan countries have been working in a new and progressively changing economical and political environment. Privatization as a part of the transition process is being carried out with almost no investments in new technologies or modernization of the existing ones. All the Balkan countries are looking towards to the time of their integration into the European Union. The metallurgy of the Balkan countries are doing their best to establish close und useful relations with their counterparts in the EU and other developed countries. On their part, the metallurgical science and practice in the region have always been and will continue contributing in determining the most prosperous directions for development, reconstruction, modernization and environmental protection.  This conference should be part of these efforts and one of the milestones of the overall development of the Balkan countries.
